Stone Mountain Day 2

So I don't know about you but I am proud of me because this trip to Stone Mountain that I am blogging about only happened last weekend.  Yep that is right LAST weekend and I have already wrapped up the blogs about it! That almost never happens! Really thought I am trying hard to stay on top of blogs about life so that weeks and months don't go by and then by then I don't remember what happened, or I am getting all kinds of different trips confused, or random other things......

Anyways before this somehow ends up in drafts let me go ahead and get started:

Sunday we started the day off with a good old southern breakfast of OJ, fruit, biscuits in gravy, bacon, hash browns, and a cinnamon roll with walnuts. Yum!

Then we headed over to the park where we got to wait in line, and wait in in line, and wait in line.  Oddly this didn't bother Ryan or I, we were just happy to be there, talking about memories of our last trip, things we wanted to make sure we did at the park, and other random topics. We even played a game of seeing if we could guess what country everyone was from.

The highlight thought might of been when we got to watch an older woman freak out because they were having computer problems and she didn't understand why they would only have one person working on a Sunday at 10:00 AM, no wonder the park is losing money it is because people have to wait in line and just give up and take their business else where. She went on and on about how she had 16 people here for a convention and they were waisting their time....after a good 15 minutes of complaining loudly and not getting any sort of response she made her way to the front of the line to push the man at the ticket booth out of the way to yell/ask the poor worker behind the counter why he couldn't fix it and why he was calling for help, tech support in India wasn't going to help him.....ahh it was kind of a fun experience I love it when people makes a$$'s of themselves.

Once we got through the line we made our way to another line to wait for the cable car up to the top of the mountain.  This is one of the many times that I know Ryan loves me because I love cable cars and he really does not like them.  I think he has a fear of the cable breaking and us being trapped in a glass box as we plummet to our death with a bunch of people we don't even know screaming and yelling.  Lucky for us this trip was only  maybe 5 minutes and nothing like the one in Gatlenburg.

Then once at the bottom we walked around for a bit.

Then we grabbed some lunch at Mrs. Katie's where they toss you rolls and serve "southern cooking".  Ryan had the chicken dumplings with mac and cheese, and collar greens.  I had country friend steak (not my favorite) with mashed potatoes and green beans.

After lunch we went over to the museum and learned that the mountain is quartz.  The face of the mountain has a craving of three Confederate leaders from the Civil war, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. The man who started the project is the man who also did Mount Rushmore.  We watched a short video about the War Of Georgia, and then another short one the different men who worked on the carving and how it was all done.

And then we made our way over to the old plantation houses and walked around.  I have always loved things like this even though I am not big on history.  I took a ton of photos but well some didn't turn out, others all kind of look the same, and I don't want to over load you with photos of old stuff so I will just share a few....really how many is a few anyways?









Oh and there was a petting zoo with a few goats, some pigs and some kind of sad looking sheep.



I can just see him thinking "Ok guys I'm in the pool now bring on the water"





 We watched this sheep for a few minutes as he just walked from post to post licking the paint.
Oddly I think he may have to be my favorite one for the day.



Animals have always had a thing for Ryan.  They love him, they flock to him, they try to eat his pants.



Me not so much...this goat was awake when I went over to him....and then...well I guess he feel asleep.



The park had amazing Dogwood trees all over the place.  I have always thought the flowers on Dogwood trees were so pretty, and in this case huge.

And then after a tour through time we packed it up and head back home. Once back home we ordered some Domino's and rented The Vow.

The Vow was a cute movie. I liked that it was not overly cheesy like I thought it was going to be. Oddly I really don't have much else to say.  I like how in the end she still ended up being who she was going to be even though her family tried to use her memory loss to make her who they wanted to be. I think my favorite part of the movie was the lake scene and just the whole idea of a walk down memory lane.  I really was wishing at that point that I had tried harder to make mental notes of so many things in my relationship that I now will never remember or will but out of order and only slightly.   As far as Ryan's thoughts go (or from what he told me) it wasn't bad but I know I drove him slightly crazy with questions that always come with these movies as we cuddled.  Oh baby will you jump in a lake with me? Oh would you punch him? I would punch him! Would you try to make me remember? And so on and so forth...really I was not kidding when I said I talk a lot. 

I get the feeling if I ever forget everything it would go down more like 50 First Dates rather than The Vow.

Any movie suggestions for this up coming 3 day weekend??
