My First Kindle Book and Book of The New Year!

I just finished my first Kindle book and it was amazing! Not only that but I am doing great on that New Years Resolution to read two books a month!  I also have spent my week getting ahead on most of my lesson plans at work and I tried to make them decently interesting or well as interesting as they can be without free time.

Anyways the first book I read of the year and on the Kindle was "The Potluck Club" and it was great!

Sadly no joke as soon as I finish this post (half of which I wrote on the oh so amazing Kindle) and get caught up on my other post I will dive into another book if not before. I would say that The Potluck Club is not my normal type of book because I am crazy about murder mystery and this book was anything but that. With this book I did the whole cliche of "I laughed, I cried" and so on and so forth. This book is about a group of older women who get together once a month to eat, pray and gossip. What I think I loved the most about this book is that it took you in to each woman's life and showed you that even the women at church who we think are perfect or who act like they are perfect all have flaws and their lives are anything perfect.

This book was being offered for free so that is the biggest reason I gave it a try because the reviews were so so and all over the place. People did not like that it had blatant adds for things in it and I could of done without those however they were not that bad. Some people also said that it hits you over the head with religion however it is a christian book and I have never read a lot of Christan books or really wanted to yet I found this one had just the right amount of "Christan" and it was in all the right places not only in the book but also kind of for my life. I still struggle with being mad at God for taking my grandmother and the changes it has brought about in life and that is one of the many things that is a problem for the women or mainly one woman in this book.

I can honestly say I looked forward to getting up everyday to read this book and hated putting it down at night and not only because of the semi juicy story line but also to see what more I could learn or ponder over for the day.

The Potluck Club (The Potluck Club, Book 1)

Product Description

In the small Colorado town of Summit View, a surprising multi-generational mix of women from Grace Church meet once a week to pass a hot dish and to pray. But the Potluck Club, as they call themselves, is a recipe for disaster when they send up enough misinformed prayers to bring down a church. And the funny thing: the more they pray, the more troubles seem to come their way. It isn't until they invite God to the table that they discover friendship is the spice of life, and a little dash of grace, just like salt, goes a long way. With charming, down-home characters, humor, poignancy, and a recipe in every chapter, The Potluck Club will keep readers hungering for more.
